about

Perhaps was the first solo album released by LiLia, now known as Lucas Silveira.

LiLia was Lucas's name prior to transitioning from female to male. All the songs were written and recorded when Lucas was still identifying as a woman.

He later founded his band The Cliks in 2004 and release a self-titled debut album the same year while still identifying as female. Lucas came out as a trans man in 2006 during the recording of their second album release, Snakehouse. This album got The Cliks signed to Warner Music in Canada and Tommy Boy/Silver Label in the US, making Lucas the first out transgender man in history to be signed to a major label record deal.

Lucas's voice on these recordings is still in his female body and identity. Although he came out as a trans man when he was 32 years old, he hormonally transitioned at the age of 37. What you hear on all of The Cliks albums after their initial self-titled debut, is his voice post testosterone hormone treatments.

Lucas decided he wanted to honor his past without shame and the woman who got him to where he is now. LiLia was an incredible, strong human being who suffered deeply with her identity struggles and was often mistreated by her inner male identity.

This release represents Lucas's apology to her and that he is forever grateful for her strength and resilience for getting him to where he is now. He lives now because of what she carried then.

I hope you can honor her as well by listening to these songs and sharing in the beautiful grief of what he has called the strongest part of himself. The resilient woman who still carries him to this day. She’s in there still, but now, she’s safe and loved.
